this piece is the result of peachtober 2023 prompt “bee”. i began with a lime green and purple color palette and the idea of creating a “queen” figure. using this four-corners layout also helped me visualize the smaller details and scenes i wanted to include.

from the sketch stage i gave her a glow up and filled out and refined the details. i gave her a mouth and nose! if i had to pick a favorite part of this painting it would be the ribbon and coat of arms. it came out exactly how i imagined it.

the crest detail with honey dipper and lime green honey. the flowers are borage and lavender.
